Friday, June 6, 2008, established a hopeful long-lasting tradition of mini golf tournaments! Our small group met for dinner in our outrageous (or normal) attire, prepared to be fueled for our competition. We were a little nervous as it was pretty stormy in the late afternoon, but we decided to brave the tornadic conditions, and head out anyway, like a true golfer!
The competition was fierce, and there were unknown awards to be had after as well. Eric and I recieved "Coolness Awards", I don't think I have to explain why ;) And other awards included most aces, can I say I had two (woot!), most out of bounds balls, high score, and the "likely to win...next time" award. It was fun for all involved, although, we have another pretty competetive pregnant lady among us.
Eric and I came up with the idea for the trophy and Eric's handy-craftiness proved great once again...once everyone saw the trophy, they knew they had to win it! It must be displayed prominently in the winner's home, and they must add to it for the next tournament. Chris (our very modest winner) is looking forward to the challenge. He also won the "evening wear" competition, and earned himself a new nickname--"C-Foam" check out our slide show (thanks Rachel!) and you'll understand why!

I love it! Kevin is totally inspired and ready to copy your idea. :) How did Eric make that trophy - it's AWESOME! :)
Rachel
Well, let me clarify that HOW to make the trophy was my idea (aren't you proud?) It's just a styrofoam ball from Michael's that we used a teaspoon to make the indentations, then spray painted it gold. Eric cut the wood & put poly on it to make it shiny, and we used carpet tape to attach the felt. Fantastic!
Hey Eric and Ann,
I am inspired to start the SGMGA!
If you haven't figured out what that stands for it is:
Small Group Mini Golf Association
It has a nice ring to it doesn't it?
You guys are in the Mid-West Section of the SGMGA and we will be in the Southwest Section. One day we will have a glorious major tournament to crown the true victor.
I will cast the first vote for Eric to become the President of the SGMGA. This is quite an honor, but unfortunately it doesn't pay worth beans!
Congratulations, the votes were just tallied and Eric you are offically the new 2008 President of the SGMGA.
Well until next time. Driving is for show and putting is for the dough.
Kevin
Vice President of SGMGA
(Self Appointed) get it!!!
PS: Great job on the Trophy Ann.
Okay you crazy golfers! Kevin ... if you're starting a sectional tournament ... count our small group in! Don't think you guys are just going to walk away with the championship unchallenged :) Joshua is a great golfer ... he knows how to hold his hands correctly .. and right before he hits a shot he says ... "Can I smack it?" He might have to be our mascot!
That looks AAWWWEESOME. it looks like you had such a blast and i may just need to borrow that hat!
